We recently held two one-day training workshops at LSE.
Latent variable models for categorical data - 24 April
This workshop provides a theoretical and practical introduction to latent trait and latent class modelling. Practical sessions involve running models using the Mplus programme, and calculating marginal residual statistics to examine model fit using bespoke functions written by the course leader in R software. Participants should be familiar with logistic regression modelling. Familiarity with factor analysis and structural equation modelling would be an advantage, but is not essential.
Latent variable modelling of cross-national surveys – 25 April
This workshop introduces participants to multiple group latent trait and latent class analyses and to the theoretical and practical issues involved in assessing measurement equivalence. It builds on the material provided in the first day, but could be taken as a standalone course for those already familiar with the basic models. Practical sessions here also employ Mplus for modelling, and fit statistics calculated using R software.
