Research

Yao's research is centered around the statistical inference for time series, especially for high-dimensional time series, nonlinear time series, high-frequency data, spatio-temporal processes, and, more recently, dynamical network data. Some of his work is highly relevant to other areas such as financial econometrics.

Yao also enjoys collaborating with industry, which leads to new, interesting and non-standard research problems.
